Problems and issues
- climate disaster Heavy monsoon rainfall on the Eidgaon river valley and adjoining hills drives flash flooding and waterlogging. So what: Flash floods damage cropland, roads, and homes in the valley. Source: Department of Disaster Management
- environment Hill and forest clearance for fuelwood and settlement along the foothills thins the protective tree cover. So what: Cleared slopes raise erosion and landslide risk. Source: Bangladesh Forest Department
Probable solutions
- Flash-flood early warning and drainage upgrades integrated with monsoon flood forecasting. Responsible: Department of Disaster Management / LGED · real program
- Hill-slope reforestation and slope stabilization with alternative-fuel programs to cut fuelwood-driven clearance. Responsible: Bangladesh Forest Department / Department of Environment · policy proposal
