Committee on Government Assurances

The committee continues to face systemic challenges in ensuring executive ministries provide timely and substantive implementation reports for promises made by ministers on the floor of the House.

The Committee on Government Assurances is one of the two investigative (non-ministry-shadow) standing committees of the Jatiya Sangsad, the other being the Committee on Petitions. Unlike the 48 ministry-related standing committees whose chairmen are elected by the full House, this committee's members are 'appointed by the Sangsad' (a House proposal) under the Rules of Procedure. The Bangla name — সরকারি আশ্বাস সম্পর্কিত কমিটি — is confirmed by its listing as item #2 in the official 10th and 11th parliament committee inventories. The established_year of 1973 reflects the committee framework instituted with the 1st Jatiya Sangsad following independence; the Rules of Procedure governing it were formally enacted 22 July 1974.
