RDRS Bangladesh is currently focused on sustaining its large-scale rural development and microfinance operations while navigating the challenges of maintaining financial stability and project continuity in a socio-political environment marked by rising social tensions and economic volatility.
Established 8 February 1972 with support of the Geneva-based Lutheran World Federation; localised and registered as a national NGO under the Trust Act in 1997. Head office in Uttara, Dhaka. Mohammad Enamul Kabir is the current Executive Director (LinkedIn). Banglapedia cites ~411,246 families / ~1.9 million people served and an annual budget of US$18-20 million, and ~155 branch offices across ~55 upazilas; these are not converted to BDT or treated as MFI member/portfolio fields and the exact current-year figures are not confirmed, so those numeric fields are left null. Coverage of 16 districts per Devex. mra_licensed left null: RDRS runs microfinance but MRA licence status was not confirmed on the consulted sources. [2026-06-08 audit correction] CEO corrected Mohammad Enamul Kabir -> Manik Murmu (2025 org chart; Kabir is a former Executive Director).
